Content

The topic of the semester is "AR Escape Room". With this all projects will exclusively address the topic of the semester. Other AR projects are not possible this semester.

Seeing more than there is: This practical course is made for hobby detectives, puzzle brains, creative minds, and escape room enthusiasts. Together we create an Augmented Reality escape room merging the virtual and the real world.

This course is designed to be an interdisciplinary project of (Media) Informatics (Master) and "Kunst und Multimedia" (Bachelor) students. The requirements for successful completion of the course are adapted to the respective prior knowledge, so that both groups can contribute their expertise appropriately.

Course Structure

The course consists of three parts. All of them are complemented with homework assignments.

  1. KickOff Days: During the KickOff days we get to know each other, develop concepts and build teams.
  2. Conception Day: During the conception day we develop the concept of the puzzles and build the story of the escape room.
  3. Sprint Week: During the five sprint days, the puzzles will be implemented and integrated into the escape room. Final group presentations will take place at the end of the sprint week.

Application

  • Master (Media-)Informatics: Central course allocation via Uni2Work
  • Bachelor Minor Subject (KuMM): Application via separate Uni2Work course

All applications should include the following information:

  • Describe relevant expertise, for example from previous courses, jobs and other projects, if any, that demonstrate your skills in one or more of the following areas: general programming, Unity, Augmented/Virtual Reality, user experience, user studies, prototyping.
  • Briefly describe your motivation for participation in this course.

Remark

Please note that due to the engaging nature of the group projects, students often spend more than the allocated time on the development of their prototypes. This is especially true for the group project implementation scheduled during the lecture break.
