Mein Forschungsinteresse liegt in der Verwendung von Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs) im Alltag. Durch die Einführung von HMDs in neue Umgebungen wie private Haushalte, Messen oder öffentliche Plätze ergeben sich Herausforderungen die im klassischen Laborkontext nicht vorhanden waren. Meine Arbeit bezieht im Besonderen auf den Einfluss des sozialen Kontext in der alltäglichen Nutzung von HMDs. Im Gegensatz zu den speziellen Laborumgebungen, die in den letzten Jahrzehnten die Nutzung von HMDs dominierten, sind HMD Nutzer in Alltagsumgebungen immer auch ein soziale Akteure. Als solche stehen sie, auch wenn visuell und mental nicht in der realen sondern in einer virtuellen Welt anwesend, immer in Interaktion mit den sie umgebenden Personen. In meiner Arbeit struktutiere ich das Problemfeld, erarbeite Lösungvorschläge und erzeugen Prototypen, welche die erkannten Probleme im täglichen Gebrauch adressieren. Zusätzlich arbeiten ich an Methoden zur Evaluierung dieser Systeme, welche den Ansprüchen der neuen Nutzungskontexte entgegenkommen.
