Description
To evaluate automotive user interfaces in the light of different driver states, robust means of inducing emotions are neccessary. Available induction methods rely heavily on audio-visual input which can distract drivers from their main task (steering a car), thus we want to create a multimedia approach to induce emtotions which can be used during the ride and in driving simulators without significantly disturbing the driver.
The goal of this project is to come up with and experimentally compare different designs of emotion induction methods based on previous research.
Tasks
- Review of related work on emotion induction techniques
- Active try-outs of the found methods
- Design of possible systems to use in the car
- Conducting an experiment to compare the designs
- Analysis of the collected data to give a solid recommendation for future research
Requirements
- Independent scientific work and creative problem solving
- Interest in automotive user interfaces
- Openness towards working with humans in user studies and experiments
- Good knowledge of Unity 3D
- Alternatively, a high level of proficiency in C# / Java and the willingness to learn
