Practical assignment

The practical assignment was the creation of a jump & run game in groups of five to six students with Macromedia Flash MX 2004. The game had to comprise the following elements:

  • Player character with several animations
  • Large level that needs to scroll
  • Solid objects the player can jump on
  • Bonus objects that increase the score
  • Objects that enhance the players abilities
  • Objects that cause damage to the player
  • Consistent graphical theme
  • Integration of sound
  • Singleplayer mode
  • Multiplayer mode for 2 to 4 players
  • Highscore
  • Chat
  • Additional menus like help, options and about

Before the groups started programming they modeled and structured their games with MML, a modeling language for interactive multimedia applications.
