Human-Robot-Interaction/Projekt Transform: Projekt-Stelle mit der Möglichkeit zur Promotion (3 Jahre)
The Media informatics group at the University of Munich is offering a position as a Full-Time Researcher (m/f/d; Full-Time; 3 Years; TV-L E13) in Human-Robot-Interaction.
The position is part of the project Transform (Transparency for Machinery in Personal Pervasive Smart Spaces). The contract will be limited to three years and will provide the opportunity to pursue a Dr. degree (PhD) in Computer Science.
The research project Transform comprises the development and operation of a smart-space (a room with technical elements such as robotic arms, beamer, speaker-syste, light-system, smart-home-appliances...) This includes the design and implementation of a suitable system architecture as well as design and conduction of user studies within the smart space.
Research questions in the project include (non-exhaustive selection):
- Interaction design regarding user & smart space (interaction modalities, central point of interaction)
- Design of cues to communicate attention and intention of the smart space
- Design of the smart space as a unity/entity (in contrast to mere accumulation of appliances)
- Invisibility (technology in the background) vs. transparency (technology communicates it's system state and abilities)
Good knowledge of programming (e.g.: C++, ROS), the ability to think abstract (design of system-architecture), as well as interest in human-robot-interaction is expected from the candidate.
Disabled candidates will be given preference in case of similar qualifications. The University of Munich is dedicated to increasing the number of women in research and teaching. We therefore explicitly encourage female applicants for the position.

Umfang: 12 Monate, 12h/Woche (ggf. flexibel anpassbar).
Interessierte haben im Idealfall Interesse am Prototyping und allgemeine Programmier-Erfahrungen (Web).
