  • 19.10.2020 The review of the make-up exam will take place on 22.10.2020, please note the following hints.
  • 26.08.2020 The date for the make-up exam is now fixed, a new registration via Uni2Work is required.
  • 03.06.2020 The review of the main exam will take place on 10.6.2020, please note the following hints.
  • 18.03.2020 Due to the current restrictions of teaching, the make-up exam (planned for April 7th) will not take place. As soon as a new date is fixed it will be announced here. A registration in Uni2Work remains valid.
  • 13.03.2020 The exam results of the main exam can now be viewed at Uni2Work. Due to the COVID-19 situation, a post-exam review cannot be offered at the moment. However, the final exam grades will be forwarded to the examination office only after the possibility for a post-exam review has been given. As soon as a date for the post-exam review is fixed, it will be announced here. If you need an early notification of the grade, please contact us by mail at David.Englmeier@ifi.lmu.de. It is not yet certain whether the make-up exam will be postponed. Any news in this regard will be published on this page immediately.
  • 18.01.2020 The final presentations of the bonus projects will take place during the lectures on 28.1. and 4.2.2020. You can find your group number and the presentation date here.

Contents

The lecture introduces core aspects in information visualization. The focus will be on human visual perception, visualization of multivariate data, and interaction concepts for visualization systems. Based on these concepts, strategies will be introduced that allow graphs, networks, trees, text-based data and time-based data to be visualized. Furthermore, the lecture presents techniques to efficiently use limited display space.

The lecture course is suitable for:

  • Students of media informatics (Medieninformatik) (Diplom, Master) and computer science (Informatik) (Diplom, Master) with prior knowledge in media informatics (Medieninformatik), Obligatory lecture for Master MCI

The lecture is targeted at master students. However, participation is also possible for bachelor students. Please be advised that credits can cannot be provided to bachelor students prior to enrollment for a master program.

Für die erfolgreiche Teilnahme an den Übungen (Abgabe und Präsentation) kann ein Bonus auf die Klausurnote in Höhe von maximal 10% der erreichbaren Klausurpunkte erreicht werden. Der Bonus wird unabhängig vom Bestehen der Klausur, wenn alle Projektaufgaben erfolgreich bearbeitet und präsentiert wurden, gewährt. Der Klausurbonus gilt nur für die Klausur und Nachholklausur zum aktuellen Semester. Der Bonus verfällt für alle späteren Wiederholungen.
