Aufgabenstellung / Topic
Current privacy research looks into perspectives of users and bystanders - what happens if the same person is both, user of their own device, and a bystander to the people around them also wearing XR glasses? You design and implement an interface for ''privacy negotiation'' for multiple users who use different XR devices in the same space, and evaluate the interface with a user study. Results from the study could cover e.g. usability of your implemented interface, perceived control of users, how the privacy negotiation worked,...
Focus: Interface Design.
You will:
- Review literature on privacy interfaces for VR, bystander privacy and privacy negotiation
- Design and implement a privacy negotiation mechanism between users and bystanders of XR glasses
- Conduct a user study to evaluate your prototype
- Analyze your prototype, e.g. in regards to usability, perceived control on the side of users and bystander, understanding of shared data,...
- Summarize findings in a thesis and (optionally) contribute to a research publication
- Present your work in the Disputationsseminar of Prof. Dr. Florian Alt
You need:
- Interest in usable privacy, HCI and bystander privacy in XR
- Programming skills, ideally previous experience with Unity
- Interest to conduct user studies with careful selection of methods to capture user privacy behavior
