Research
At LMU Munich, I am researching affective intelligent systems, with a particular focus on how conversational agents can show empathy in therapeutic and emotional support contexts. In my work, I explore both the cognitive and affective dimensions of empathic behavior - investigating how users perceive and respond to such systems. One important aspect of my research is how the integration of multimodal nonverbal input and personal context can improve the system's ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emotional states. Another aspect is how multimodal feedback can influence the user's perception of an agent's empathic abilities, with the goal of creating more emotional human-AI interactions. At TAWNY I am working on recognition, analysis and visualization of affective states for example from user behavior and physiological signals. Feel free to get in touch if you are interested in these topics.
