Media Informatics and
Human-Computer Interaction Groups

The Media Informatics and Human-Computer Interaction Groups of the Department of Informatics of the University of Munich are headed by the chair of Applied Informatics and Media Informatics (Prof. Dr. Heinrich Hußmann) as well as the chair of Human-Computer Interaction (Prof. Dr. Andreas Butz). Together with other chairs of the department we are responsible for the program "Medieninformatik" at the University of Munich.

  • 27.10.2022: We welcome Prof. Dr. Johanna Pirker in our group
    Prof. Pirker will join our group from November to start new research projects and teach Multimedia Programming, Human Computation and more! Johanna Pirker was previously assistant professor at the Institute of Interactive Systems and Data Science at Graz University of Technology (TUG) and ETH Zurich. In 2017, she finished her doctoral dissertation in computer science on motivational environments under the supervision of Christian Gütl (TUG) and John Belcher (MIT).
  • 24.10.2022: Open Lab Day 2022
    On the 24th of October from 6 pm, the department for Media Informatics opens its door to interested people from the industry, research, students and prospective students, friends, and family. The employees present their current research projects, and students showcase the results of their work done in semester projects. Further information can be found here.
