Content

The topic of the semester is "AR Museum Exhibit Applications". With this all projects will exclusively address the topic of the semester. Other AR projects are not possible this semester.

Augmented Reality (AR) applications offer experiencing museum exhibitions from different perspectives, contexts, and interaction possibilities. These extensions of current exhibitions allow interacting with non-accessible, hidden gems or sharing the experienced with other visitors. This practical course explores in collaboration with the Deutsche Museum the conceptualization and prototyping of, and interaction with AR busts that connect visitors with each other and the museum exhibit. The museum offers the opportunitiy for further collaboration in the case of high quality end results Since the course in German, please find more information on the German version of this page.

Course Structure

The course consists of three parts. All of them are complemented with homework assignments.

  1. KickOff With the Museum: At the KickOff, the museum will introduce the design and problem space. Further, you will meet everyone.
  2. Bi-Weekly Semester Meetings: During the semester, you will iteratively work on your concepts, get familiar with the technology and start prototyping.
  3. Sprint Week and Final Presentation: In the five sprint days, the AR apps implementation will mainly take place. Final group presentations will take place at the end of the sprint week.

Dates and Rooms

Please note that due to the engaging nature of the group projects, students have to spend more than the allocated time on the development of their prototypes. This is especially true for the group project implementation scheduled during the lecture break.
