- 26/01/21: Online lecture for the last remaining dates!
- 12/07/21: This lecture is for major subject Masters students only (e.g. Media Informatics, Informatics, MMT, ...)! Major subject Bachelors students cannot use Online Multimedia as “Vertiefendes Thema”. Minor subject bachelor students (e.g. Kunst und Multimedia) have to enroll for Multimedia im Netz.

A recording of the lecture will provided.
- Tutorials:
There will prospectively be 2 presence tutorials in Amalienstraße 17, room A001 (CIP pool) and one online tutorial via Zoom. Tutorials start in the second week of the semester (25.10.2021).
- Physical Group 1: Mondays 4 - 6 p.m. c.t.
- Physical Group 2: Mondays 6 - 8 p.m. c.t.
- Virtual Tutorial: Thursdays 6 - 8 p.m. , via Zoom
Please check the LMU rules for presence teaching! Especially mind that the 2G rule applies for access to LMU buildings, and that masks have to be worn wherever the minimal distance of 1.5m cannot be guaranteed.
Contents
The lecture discusses multimedia services which are realized through data networks (online). Knowledge about data networks is introduced as far as necessary for understanding the lecture, for details students are referred to other lectures on computer networks. The lecture is structured into the following areas:
- Basic technologies for interactive multimedia Web apps
- Server-side JavaScript, Node, Express
- Database integration for Web Apps, NoSQL-Datenbanken (MongoDB)
- Client-Side Web App Frameworks (Angular, React, Web Components)
- Social media and virtual online worlds
- Copyright protection and Digital Rights
- Media Streaming Technology
- Architectures and Signalling Protocols for Multimedia Communication
The lecture course is suitable for:
- Students of Media Informatics (Master) or Informatics (Master) being well grounded in topics of Media Informatics, or Human-Computer-interaction (Master)
- Students of Master MMT - compulsory course in the third term

Uni2Work
We use Uni2Work to manage exercise sheets and the exam registration. Please make sure to enroll for the course in Uni2Work, otherwise you will not be able to participate in the exam!
Moodle
Lecture and tutorial contents will be avaliable via Moodle. We further use Moodle to publish announcements, course-related surveys, tutorial slides etc. . The enrollment can be accessed via Uni2Work (check the exercise sheets). Please make sure to enroll in Moodle, otherwise you will neither have access to lecture materials nor receive important announcements.
