Rules for Online Teaching
While LMU is closed, most teaching happens currently online. As teachers, we ask you to be forgiving if things should not work perfectly right away, and we hope for your constructive participation. In this situation, we would also like to explicitly point out some rules, which would be self-evident in real life:- In live meetings, we ask you to responsibly deal with audio (off by default) and bandwidth (video as needed).
- Recording or redirecting streams by participants is not allowed.
- Distributing content (video, audio, images, PDFs, etc.) in other channels than those foreseen by the author is not allowed.
Klausur
Time and date: tba
The "Digital Media" exam will take place as a written exam in presence at the end of WS20/21. The exam is "Open Book", i.e. you are allowed to use printed and handwritten documents as well as a non-programmable calculator. In case an exam in presence is not possible at the end of the semester due to COVID-19, the written exam will be carried out online.
Contents
The lecture gives an introductory overview on the most important basic knowledge for the realization of digital media, covering technical topics as well as topics from perceptual psychology. There are no prerequisites in terms of programming skills or computer science knowledge. The lecture touches a quite broad spectrum of different disciplines (mathematics, physics, telecommunications, medicine). The lecture is the basis for the lecture "Media Technology" which goes into deeper Detail of technology and design aspects. It also provides the basis for more specialized courses on multimedia-related topics.
The lecture course is suitable for:
- Students of Media Informatics and "Art and Multimedia" (Bachelor)
- Students of Media Informatics (Bachelor Minor)
The lecture course is not suitable as "Vertiefendes Thema" for Informatics students.

Because of copyright, the course material is accessible via Moodle. You can enroll in the Moodle course "[WS2021] Digitale Medien" with your campus ID. However, you need a registration key for Moodle - the key will be announced in Uni2Work. The exam registration will also follow in Uni2Work.
