News

  • 06.04.2020: Cancellation of MUCA Collaboration
Due to the current situation, we are sad to inform DW2 App Design participants that the collaboration with MUCA is canceled. But the course will still take place with the new course topic and schedule described in detail below. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the respective contact person. Thank you for your understanding.
  • 06.02.2020: Applications will be collected via Uni2work for both workshops between 24.02. - 22.03. (for MCI master students only).
  • In Design Workshop 2, the similar skills acquired in the DW1 in the Bachelor program will be applied in practical projects with industry partners. For this purpose, the partners will present a real-world interaction design problem and the students are asked to systematically work out solutions in groups. The goal is a final presentation with the demonstration of a working prototype at the end of the semester. All information for both workshops will be presented on this website in the future.

Disclaimer

While LMU is closed, most teaching happens currently online. As teachers, we ask you to be forgiving if things should not work perfectly right away, and we hope for your constructive participation. In this situation, we would also like to explicitly point out some rules, which would be self-evident in real life:
  • In live meetings, we ask you to responsibly deal with audio (off by default) and bandwidth (video as needed).
  • Recording or redirecting streams by participants is not allowed.
  • Distributing content (video, audio, images, PDFs, etc.) in other channels than those foreseen by the author is not allowed.
If you violate one of these rules, you can expect to be expelled from the respective course, and we reserve the right for further action. With all others, we are looking forward to the joint experiment of an "online semester".

Design Workshop 2 with the Monacensia

Content

Topic: The virtual showcase
Coordination and Supervision: Linda Hirsch
First Meeting: 27.04.2020, Mo, 13-16 Uhr c.t.
Location: Zoom

Design Workshop 2 APP Design

Content

Topic: Online Art Journey
Coordination and Supervision: Rico Sperl, Jingyi Li
First Meeting: 23.04.2020, Do, 15-18 Uhr s.t.
Ort: Zoom

Online Art Journey - This Design Workshop 2 will take place tentatively online under the current situation. The goal of the workshop is to develop an app that fosters the experience of an online art journey through the city of Munich. We will assess the requirements and the interaction framework of this use case and then incorporate them into the design and development process. Students from the majors of Kunst und Multimedia (KUMM) und Mensch-Computer-Interaktion (MCI) will work together as a team during the course. The necessary basics of UX design and design methods are taught, supported by guest speakers from various fields, and directly applied to the project work. Please note that the weekly appointment is therefore partly scheduled from 15-19 pm. The course language is German and English. The courses are aimed at all students of KUMM program and master students of MCI who are interested in creative work and practical real-world experience.

More information about the online course instruction will come soon.
